a sunday to help me realize something
The Banjo Player (1877)
Geraldine Page remembers Dean’s “tremendous intensity and curiosity about people—always fascinated by everything around him. Most people would be frightened by this kind of intensity. He made people look at themselves and not like what they saw. Unless you kind of welcomed that look at yourself, because it gave you a chance to reassess yourself, Jimmy was a very uncomfortable person to be around.”
“The basis of most arguments against trans people is that we are not who we say we are, that we are always and only the gender that we were assigned at birth. And so much of that is about having a sense of certainty around gender, that when you were born with a certain set of genitalia, then that must dictate your entire life, and the reality is that that’s not true. A lot of people are not comfortable with that, because then that means they have to begin to question who they are.”- Laverne Cox
Bullshit. The point of using someone’s preferred pronouns is to demonstrate that you respect their identity and want them to feel safe around you. If you think grammatical correctness is more important than making other people feel accepted and safe, then you are an asshole.
Fallen Angels (1995)
"All the bright precious things fade so fast… and they don’t come back."
